NHS England community neurology project

The Neurological Alliance is delighted to support a new project, led by NHS England in collaboration with neurology Strategic Clinical Networks, to encourage the adoption of community-based models of care for people with long-term neurological conditions.

We will be working alongside the NHS England Long Term Conditions Support Unit and the Strategic Clinical Network Neurology Collaborative to deliver a co-ordinated programme of work to improve care and outcomes for people living with neurological conditions. The first project objective is to develop a commissioning toolkit to support local commissioning of new models of community-based care.

For further information on the project, including a breakdown of work packages and contact details for project leads, please see here.

Arlene Wilkie, chief executive of the Neurological Alliance, said: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to support NHS England and Strategic Clinical Networks in this important piece of work. It is essential that neurology services make the most of the opportunities presented by the NHS Five Year Forward View, to develop new models of care that can deliver more effective services and better outcomes to people living with neurological conditions.”
