Engaging with NHS Choice: Improving Communication and the Quality of Neurological Information

On 12 May, NHS Choices, in association with the Neurological Alliance, are hosting a free information event for all Neurological Alliance member organisations. At this event you will be able to learn about ways that your organisation can take better advantage of NHS Choices, including some ways that NHS Choices can assist you in return for linkage.

NHS Choices is keen to improve the quality and relevance of the information that they provide on neurological conditions and services for people with those conditions. They also want to ensure that they are providing links to all relevant patient organisations and reaching as many people with neurological conditions as possible. It is not possible for NHS Choices to work directly with every patient group, so they have asked the Neurological Alliance to act as an information conduit.

This programme is your organisation’s opportunity to help shape this work, and to raise the profile of neurological conditions and of the organisations (like you) that support those affected by them. During this programme, your organisation will have the opportunity to:

  • advise on the revision of relevant content, particularly the HealthA-Z section* and
  • form on-going links with NHS Choices to strengthen the way that you provide information to your members.

Visitors at the event will have the opportunity to directly discuss collaboration with representatives of NHS Choices and the Neurological Alliance. Lunch will be included and a free tour of the museum is also available to delegates.

If you would like to attend this event or get involved in this programme of work, please e-mail Tahani Saridar at the Alliance or call 020 7566 1540.

* It is important to note that NHS Choices always retain editorial control of content and ownership of content and no patient group has a right of veto over content.
